🏕️ Camping is about freedom, adventure, and community. To ensure everyone has a great experience, consideration and adherence to the rules are crucial. Here you'll find the most important tips regarding local regulations, wild camping, and campsites.
🌲 Wild Camping
Observe the laws: Wild camping is prohibited or restricted in many countries. Be sure to check beforehand!
Bivouac instead of tent: In some regions, overnight stays without a tent (just a sleeping bag or bivouac sack) are tolerated.
Protect nature: Leave no trace. Do not damage plants or leave any trash behind.
Private property: Only enter and camp with explicit permission.
Nature reserves: Camping is strictly prohibited; hefty fines are possible.
🏕️ Campsites – Rules & Consideration
⏰ Quiet Hours
Quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM are standard practice.
In southern countries, there is often an additional midday rest period (1:00–3:00 p.m.).
Avoid engines, music, and loud conversations.
🔉 Volume
Keep music at a low volume.
In the evenings: guitar and campfire atmosphere are preferable to loud speakers.
Remember: the walls of tents and campervans are thin!
↔️ Distances & Safety
Fire safety regulations usually require a distance of 3–5 meters between tents, vehicles, and caravans.
Never use gas stoves or grills inside tents (risk of suffocation and fire).
Keep escape routes and access roads clear for emergency vehicles.
🗑️ Waste & Hygiene
Separate waste according to the campsite's regulations.
Do not empty wastewater (e.g., dishwater, chemical toilet) onto the ground. Disposal stations are provided.
Leave sanitary facilities clean – the next camper will thank you.
🔥 Fires & Barbecues
Open fires are only permitted in designated areas.
During hot summer months, fires are often strictly prohibited.
Gas or charcoal grills: always ensure they are stable and have fire extinguishers readily available.
